Emotions are a natural part of the human experience. We all feel them, whether they are positive or negative. However, we have not learned to let them go and we tend to hold them tight like a pencil in our hand. And if we hold onto especially negative emotions, they can become toxic and have a negative impact on our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Learning how to release emotions can be a powerful way to alleviate stress, anxiety, and other negative feelings.
In this article, we will explore two methods of releasing emotions: The Spiral and Self-Liberation Emotions.
The Self-Liberation Method
The Self-Liberation Method is one of the four secret keys of the Dzogchen tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is a method for releasing emotions that involves recognizing the true nature of the mind and emotions. According to the Dzogchen tradition, the true nature of the mind is pure and free from any kind of emotions. However, we often get caught up in our emotions and identify with them, causing suffering. We also have to see that good and bad emotions are only the two sides of one coin. We like good emotions and try to avoid the negative ones, but if we see them from a distant perspective, we have to learn not to stick to both sides in order to become more and more free in life.

To practice the Self-Liberation Method, you bring to mind emotions that you are currently experiencing. Allow yourself to feel the emotion fully, without judgment or resistance. Then you go through a clear step by step process in which your emotions will find liberation and, at the end you will be connected with your true nature of the mind, which is pure and free from any negative emotions.
Finally, rest in the natural state of the mind, which is pure awareness. Rest in the space of the mind, free from any thoughts or emotions. Allow yourself to experience the peace and clarity that comes with this state.
Releasing emotions can be a powerful way to alleviate stress, anxiety, and other negative feelings. The Self-Liberation methods can help you release emotions and experience greater peace and clarity. Without working and starting first by only becoming aware of your emotions, it is difficult to find peace and freedom. At the end, by releasing your emotions and finally seeing more and more the true nature of emotions and experience your true heart.
