Biological Capacity vs Productivity

Productivity is a measure of output. Biological capacity is a measure of what generates that output.

Biological capacity is the total amount of physical, cognitive and emotional energy your system can generate, sustain and recover consistently.

When these systems are functioning well, biological capacity is high. Performance feels effortless.

What Depletes Biological Capacity

Biological capacity depletes through a combination of sustained demand and insufficient recovery. The most significant depletion drivers in founders are:

Chronic Nervous System Activation The stress response is designed for short-term threats. When it remains chronically activated — as it does in most founders operating under sustained pressure — it consumes biological resources faster than the system can replenish them.
